Whole Cloth Quilting – what is it?
A whole cloth quilt is made using one large piece of fabric for the quilt top instead of an arrangement of pieced blocks. The pattern is created by lines of quilting stitches. The quilting design is drawn, or pre-printed on the cloth.
Quilting these usually intricate designs has historically been done by hand by highly skilled needleworkers. Skilled quilters often also used Trapunto (adding additional batting for a sense of depth).

There are several pre-printed whole cloth pieces on the market. It is a great way to practice your hand quilting or machine quilting skills!
