Classes

We offer a changing variety of classes designed to teach you more about quilting and whet your appetite for new projects. Classes are limited to 8 participants and fill up quickly, so register early!

Note: On Full-Day Classes, a break will be given. Bring your own sack lunch or go out!

Personal Choice/Open Lab

Cost:  $5/hour per person, minimum of 3 hours

Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

• Tuesday, May 15, 10am - 3pm
• OR a time (3 participants minimum) that works for both you and Nadine

Do you have questions about a quilting technique?  Do you need help with a project?  Would you like to take one of our classes but the schedule doesn't fit into yours?  You can do any of the above during our personal choice/open lab sessions.  Or, you can schedule a time with Nadine (min. of 3 participants) other than the times above -- check with one of our staff for details.

 

 

 

Beginning Quilting

Instructor: Nadine Sauer

• Thursday, August 23, 6-9 pm
• Thursday, August 30, 6-9 pm

Fee: $40 plus required book and supplies

This is a class for beginners or sewers who would like to learn a few pointers on quilting. You will learn exact cutting, sewing and quilting in the ditch. We start with picking out the fabric and you will have a nearly completed project at the end of the 3rd class. Just a little hand sewing to do.

Beginning Quilting - Step 2

Instructor: Nadine Sauer

Thursday, June 14, 6-9 pm

Fee: $15

Now you know the basics! Let's take the next step! Learn several ways to make half-square triangles and flying geese units. Choose your favorite method. We will make the units in class and put them together into blocks. We can try different layouts and see which one you like the best!

 

Stack N Whack

Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

Saturday, May 12, 9 am - 3 pm

Fee:  $30 plus book and supplies

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at making kaleidoscope blocks?  marvel at this simple method for rotary cutting these versatile blocks.  You will not be able to stop making blocks just so you can see how the next block will turnout!!

 

Hand Quilting

Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

Fee:  $15 plus required book

Have you ever admired the hand quilting of others?  Let me show you how!  It is a very relaxing way to spend time and have something special to show off.  We talk about batting (do's and don'ts, thread, and a couple of special tools to use.

 

Fusibles/Machine Applique

Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

Fee:  $15 plus required pattern (McKenna Ryan or Patchabilities) and supplies

Wednesday, May 9, 6-9 pm

Have you ever wanted to make one of McKenna Ryan's patterns and it looked too hard?  No fear, help is here!  This class will teach you all about fusible web products so that you can create the delightful designs, taking them from paper to fabric.  Patterns by Patchabilities also work well for this class.

 

Machine Quilting

Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

Monday, June 4, 6-9 pm

Fee:  $15 plus required book

Now you have your quilt top done -- how do you finish it?  This class will teach you how to drop the feed dogs and quilt your quilt with a gentle meander pattern, making it ready for binding.
