Classes

We offer a changing variety of classes designed to teach you more about quilting and whet your appetite for new projects. Classes are limited to 8 participants and fill up quickly, so register early!

Note: On Full-Day Classes, a break will be given. Bring your own sack lunch or go out!

Fusible/Machine Applique

 Instructor:  Nadine Sauer

Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 6-9 pm

Fee:  $15 plus required pattern (McKenna Ryan or Patchabilities) and supplies

Have you ever wanted to make one of McKenna Ryan's patterns and it looked too hard?  No fear, help is here!  This class will teach you all about fusible web products so that you can create the delightful designs, taking them from paper to fabric.  Patterns by Patchabilities also work great for this class.

 

Cotton Theory (Button Back Table Runner)

Fee:  $60 (includes kit consisting of booklet, fabric and batting)

All you need to bring to class is your sewing machine (which must have zig zag capability), thread and basic sewing supplies.

 

Fancy Flake Table Topper

This is a class for beginners to advanced sewers who would like to make a table topper that can be used for more than one season -- a fun and easy project.

Have you admired the hand quilting of others? Let me show you how! It is a very relaxing way to spend time and have something special to show off. We talk about batting (do's and don'ts), thread, and a couple of special tools to use.

This is a class for beginners or sewers who would like to learn a few pointers on quilting. You will learn exact cutting, sewing and quilting in the ditch. We start with picking out the fabric and you will have a nearly completed project at the end of the 3rd class. Just a little hand sewing to do.

Beginning Quilting - Step 2

Now you know the basics! Let's take the next step! Learn several ways to make half-square triangles and flying geese units. Choose your favorite method. We will make the units in class and put them together into blocks. We can try different layouts and see which one you like the best!

 

Fabulous Fractures

Fabulous fractures uses a simple strip piecing technique to create an infinite array of stunning one-of-a-kind fractured designs.  You can use large scale prints or panels to create this unique look.

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at making kaleidoscope blocks? Marvel at this simple method for rotary cutting these versatile blocks. You will not be able to stop making blocks just so you can see how the next block will turn out!

Landscape Painting 2

Here is your chance to try something new! In this class you will learn to create a stunning fabric "painting." Beginning with a favorite photo for inspiration, you will learn how to use fabric and scissors as your canvas and paintbrush. This technique requires no measuring, templates or patterns - just a desire to tap into another side of your creativity. When finished, your piece will be ready for framing or quilting. You will receive a fabric/supply list when you sign up. All levels welcome - no experience necessary.
