Country Pieces
Started September 2007 (FULL)
Stop in and see the units already completed! You are absolutely going to love this quilt!
The finished size of Country Pieces is 82 1/2" x 96" and consists of ten units. Each unit has a variety of designs and fabrics combining warm country colors with traditional quilt blocks. There are such traditionals as: flying geese, double pinwheel, log cabin, sawtooth stars, churn dash, cake stand, square-in-square, half square triangles and some applique.
While Country Pieces is called a 'block-of-the-month' is is somewhat of a misnomer as each months pattern is really a unit of blocks. Here's what Month #1 (September 2007) looks like:

Quilting Myth addressed:
That brings us to the Quilting Myth that a Block-of-the-Month program means that you have to finish the block each and every month and keep up! NOT SO! A certain Co-Owner of QuiltEssentials will admit to having more than one block-of-the-month program resting on her shelf of 'to do' projects that are at least 4 years old. They are still great quilts in progress (even though they are still in baggies) and she'd glad she didn't miss out on the opportunity to get the making of a great quilt.
Don't pressure yourself - heaven knows there are enough other pressures in life! Enjoy the Block-of-the-Month whether you are working on it actively or not. There are no Quilt Police - only us as our own worst enemies!
